Looking to gain experience for a law enforcement career?
Join our Event Security Team for the Celebration of Light and work alongside the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) at one of the city’s largest and most exciting public events! 

Paladin Security is contracted by the City of Vancouver to provide event security services at the Celebration of Light fireworks on July 19, 23, and 26. This 3-day event held at English Bay draws over 400,000 attendees, offering an unmatched opportunity to gain real-world security experience in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. 

We will have morning and afternoon shifts for all three event days, and the pay rate will be $21.93/hour.

If you're an aspiring law enforcement professional, criminology student, or simply passionate about public safety, this is your chance to get involved and make a real impact. 

You won’t be alone — our experienced supervisors and managers will be there to support you throughout your shift, ensuring you’re confident, prepared, and set up for success. 

YOU’RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU: 
  • Have event security experience 
  • Have excellent customer service and problem-solving skills 
  • Have strong English communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Are comfortable interacting verbally with team members, client personnel, members of the public, and emergency services 
  • Can write detailed incident reports which may be utilized in court if subpoenaed 
  • Have a passion for being active — patrols will take place outdoors in the sun,and may involve uneven surfaces and large crowds. 
  • Can physically stand and/or patrol for the majority of a shift (8-hours average) 
  • Are comfortable approaching and leading in emergency situations, including trauma, aggression, intoxication, bodily fluids, etc. 
  • Are alert and able to watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations, and contact emergency responders as required 
  • Possess basic skills in utilizing technology, including writing reports on a computer, tracking patrols via smartphone, and communicating via two-way radio 
  • Are willing and able to complete specific LMS courses in advance of deployment for the 3 shifts ("COV Orientation", "COV Fire Safety")
  • Legally Authorized to work in Canada
