Schedule Example:
- Week 1 - Nights - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
- Week 2 - Nights - Sun, Wed-Thurs
Key responsibilities:
- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site. Daily lock and unlock of facilities.
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. You will be required to operate the Switchboard duties including call handling, dispatching, monitoring of building alarm systems and CCTV.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations. Provide Use of Force/Restraint as required and directed under the Mental Health Act
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
- Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
- Report all faulty equipment to the maintenance department
- Maintain an orderly security office
- Maintain good communications with all staff
- Supervise all Security Staff activities
- Explain team goals and objectives to guards and assist the team in organization to accomplish goals
- Coach, facilitate, solve work problems, and participate in the work of the team
- Provide information to site’s Supervisors, Coordinator and the Client on performance of the team and individuals
- Handles all complaints and keeps the client’s Security Representative informed of secured issues, which require attention
- Communicate assignments, special events and deadlines based on supervisory instructions
- Enforce the security policies and procedures of the facility
- Coach, mentor and train all staff to ensure they have adequate knowledge of equipment, policies and procedures and to maintain a high level of customer service
- Other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites:
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- Diploma in Police Foundations, Protection Security & Investigations, Border Services, or Criminology is required
Certification Requirements (All)
Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
Valid Ontario Security License
