Working on assigned shifts, you will work full time shifts providing proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents. You will be required to write reports and investigate routine incidents as well as respond to coded emergencies in a quick and efficient manner. You should display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance. In this role, it is essential that you are physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods of time. You will be driving and patrolling the hospital grounds in a marked company patrol vehicle responding to all incidents on hospital property.

Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement – calculating after 88 hours bi-weekly
Hours: Monday – Friday 2230-0630hrs
Payrate: $18.00/HR

Key responsibilities:
- Monitor and patrol the premises to ensure safety and security.
- Perform regular security checks of the property, including parking areas, entrances, exits, and other designated areas.
- Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized access or unlawful activities.
- Control access at entry points and ensure only authorized personnel enter the premises.
- Respond to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies and take appropriate actions as needed.
- Assist in the enforcement of company policies and procedures, including monitoring and reporting any suspicious activities.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or security breaches promptly to the management team.
- Complete daily logs and security reports, documenting any unusual occurrences.
- Provide assistance to employees, visitors, and vendors as needed.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and security equipment, ensuring they are functioning properly.
- Cooperate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other authorities when necessary.
- Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.
Prerequisites:
- Must possess a valid G Class Driver’s Licence with 3 years driving experience
- Must provide driver abstract with no more than 2 minor convictions, no major convictions and no more than 6 demerits in the last three years
- Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
- Valid Ontario Security Licence
- Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
