Job Skills / Requirements
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and monitoring of all security related duties for their shift which they are in charge of. They are to ensure that all security operations are adhered to and that policies and procedures of both the client and Paladin Security are followed.
Shifts: Friday to Sunday, 1600-0000hrs
Pay Rate: $26.67
Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities:
- Present a current, valid Security License to the off-going Shift Supervisor and ensure that everyone on the Shift Supervisor’s team is in possession of a current, valid Security License prior to the commencement of one’s shift.
- The duties for Shift Supervisors are to run the shift and the staff efficiently. This includes (administratively) daily paperwork which listed are the Security Shift Report sheets, incident reports, E-Form incident report, log sheet, shift sign in log, memo book, radio equipment maintenance and equipment sign out sheets.
- Operational requirements that must be met include the following but are not limited to; patrolling, cash escorts, daily unlocks and lock ups, accesses and any emergency response that arises (fire alarms, first aid calls, etc.)
- Supervise the security staff assigned to the shift detail and act as a resource for Security issues in accordance with PSG/Protection Services standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure guidelines and standards for security staff are adhered to.
- Supervise and assist the site Security Officers assigned to the shift detail with responsibilities delegated to them.
- Conduct monthly fire drills and safety inspections without fail, maintain records, and prepare incident reports and other safety and security incident documentation.
- Conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections, maintain records, and prepare replacement/service reports and other safety and security incident documentation.
- Conduct monthly Panic Alarm System tests without fail, maintain records, and prepare incident reports and other safety and security incident documentation.
- Conduct site orientation and training of new officers, ensuring site orientation packages and officer review tests are completed within the allotted training period.
- Shift Supervisors are responsible for ensuring all SIRS incident reports written during their shifts are completed, and accounted for.
- Shift Supervisors will be first response to all emergencies and command their shift to react accordingly until further management can attend. This may require dealing with outside emergency agencies that enter the hospital or directly with the client.
- The Shift Supervisors must also have knowledge of the Policy and Procedures manual and the information to contact whomever is necessary.
- Shift Supervisors are also responsible for ensuring open communication amongst their staff and with the SSL/ASL. Problems with morale, or with staff, must be reported immediately to ensure that the shifts run smoothly.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year security experience, or a combination of experience and relevant education
- Intermediate First Aid (IFA) certificate and be willing to complete re-certification as required
- Prior leadership skills and experience
- Must adhere to and be familiar with PSG OH&S standards and requirements
- Completion of PSG Supervisor modules and all PSG healthcare training requirements would be considered an asset

- Ability to lead, plan, organize, delegate and problem solve
- Ability to effectively supervise
- Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment
