Job Skills / Requirements

Our Patient Watch Coordinator is responsible for supporting our Patient Watch Attendants (PWA) throughout the Lower Mainland. In this role, you will be managing the pool of on-call and casual team members, overseeing their performance and the schedules, and providing regular reporting about the program. Though based in our Burnaby office, you will mainly be in the field, visiting sites for training, incident management, quality control, contract KPI, special projects, etc.

This is a permanent full-time on-site position, working 0830-1700hrs with a half hour lunch. Shifts are Thursday to Monday (other 5 day/week combinations may be considered for the successful candidate, but must include both weekend days).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the pool of on-call and casual Patient Watch Attendants (PWA)
  • Conduct interviews and candidate screenings for all new PWA
  • Support in the scheduling of PWA to mitigate overtime and ensure resources are utilized effectively
  • Compile accurate daily and weekly statistics and reports, or as requested by the BC Healthcare Security Programs Manager
  • Ensure staff adhere to all guidelines, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee PWA performance concerns; provide coaching and disciplinary measures as needed
  • Provide recommendations for security and safety improvements
  • Oversee training compliances and arranging recertifications
  • Conduct daily on-site Quality Assurance Checks (QAC)
  • Conduct incidents investigations as required
  • Other duties as needed to meet operational demands

Requirements: 

  • 3+ years of work experience in the security industry or law enforcement; additional experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory, management, or other leadership experience
  • Must have a Class 5 BC Driver’s License, clean drivers abstract, and reliable vehicle (Paladin vehicle may be utilized if/when available)
  • Valid BC Security License
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, delegate and problem solve
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, which includes the completion of use of force training, restraining patients, patrolling up and down stairs, and more
  • Completion of (or willingness to take) all required healthcare security training courses
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check, including but not limited to Vulnerable Sector Search, and enhanced background check through police agencies and/or the federal government
  • Ability to handle dynamic high stress situations calmly and professionally
  • Confidence approaching and leading in emergency situations, including trauma, aggression, bodily fluids, etc.

Salary: $60,000/year
