Site Description:

The Kidney Care Centre provides in-centre ?dialysis services for up to 40 patients and houses comprehensive outpatient kidney care services including nephrology clinics, kidney transplant clinics, home dialysis and a teaching program.

Each individual patient dialysis treatment area includes a television for the patient to view while receiving dialysis. It also includes two waiting areas as well as a family room that includes comfortable seating, televisions, a fireplace, and a fully furnished kitchen area.

The Kidney Care Centre provides over 400 treatments per week to approximately 200 outpatients located in St. John’s and surrounding areas..

Position Details:

Position:  Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Mount Pearl Square Kidney Care Centre and surrounding area
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: Fixed Schedule
Payrate: $ 19.00/hour

Schedule Example:

Two officers will maintain a fixed schedule of:


Wednesday-Friday: 7-3, Saturday: 7-7 and;

Sunday-Monday: 7-3, Tuesday: 7-7, Wednesday 3-11

Key responsibilities:

  • Patrol Clinic: Maintain a fixed security post at the clinic’s main entrance to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the facility as well as conducting regular rounds of clinic premises, including parking areas, hallways, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist clinic staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and clinic staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to clinic policies and procedures.
  • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with clinic staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Enforce Clinic Policies: Ensure that clinic policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Code of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
  • Valid class 5 Driver License
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
