The primary responsibility of the Shift Supervisor is to function as the security officer in charge of an airport security team during an assigned shift of duty. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily security operations, coordinating personnel deployment, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with company and airport standards.
The Shift Supervisor must be licensed by the Province of British Columbia as a registered Security Guard and must maintain the license throughout their employment with Paladin Security Group.
Training Wage: $19.50/hour
Pay Rate After Training: $26.15/hour
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Coordinate and schedule the deployment of Security Personnel to maximize coverage of airport grounds, roadways, ATB, facilities, construction areas, and contractor escorts.
- Assign Aviation Security Personnel to cover emergency situations and special events.
- Act as the first point of contact with staff and airport customers during incidents, taking charge and leading responses to successful conclusions.
- Manage airport operations and incidents when airport management is off-site.
- Work within a team-oriented environment to ensure all scheduling and operational needs are met.
- Strategically plan schedules to utilize resources effectively and efficiently while minimizing unnecessary overtime.
Security & Incident Response
- Provide backup and assistance in response to disturbances on airport grounds, including crowd and traffic control within ATB areas, as required.
- Observe individuals acting suspiciously or demonstrating unusual behavior; engage appropriately to determine the cause and resolve situations effectively.
- Observe and report individuals found violating or suspected of violating municipal, provincial, or federal laws.
- Act as an escort for emergency services during major incidents.
- Administer First Aid, CPR, and utilize AED equipment as required.
Administration & Compliance
- Review and approve submitted incident reports and prepare comprehensive reports related to security operations.
- Update and maintain statistical and narrative reports documenting administrative activities.
- Ensure assigned Security Personnel remain compliant with company and airport standards, including certifications and required training.
- Perform regular audits of operational equipment, including vehicles, radios, phones, and computers.
- Conduct Occupational Health & Safety audits and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Perform various administrative duties within the security program, including:
- Maintaining Lost & Found
- Updating post orders
- Assisting with Pass Control
- Reviewing training documents
- Supporting operational documentation requirements
Training & Performance Management
- Train and mentor new Security Personnel.
- Initiate and participate in training exercises.
- Oversee staff performance appraisals.
- Make recommendations regarding discipline and implement corrective or disciplinary actions where required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid BC Security Worker License
- Must maintain all required licensing and certifications throughout employment
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations
- Experience in security operations, aviation security, or supervisory roles considered an asset
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
