Reporting to Victoria Operations Manager, the SPM will manage a large and high-profile security portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for all managerial and operational functions for assigned staff; including staffing, site assignment, training, crisis management, payroll, discipline, and coaching.

Job Duties:

  • Proactively develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients and key stakeholders through regular communication and support
  • Understand client’s needs, identify and resolve challenges, build and adapt portfolio specifically to the needs of the client
  • Responsible for projecting scheduling needs for their portfolio and working with the Scheduling Department and Operations to ensure staff assigned meet site requirements and overtime stats are controlled.
  • Ensures all sites have up to date and complete Site Orders both in hard copy and in digital copy on the network server
  • Ensures that there are adequate numbers of trained security staff to meet all of Paladin’s contractual obligations within the portfolio of business
  • Analyzes business margins on a contract by contract basis to ensure the portfolio of business remains profitable
  • Develops and maintains frequent security evaluations of client facilities and ensures appropriate recommendations are made to clients so that their security needs are met
  • Communicates effectively with the Operations Manager as needed to ensure that any outstanding issues are dealt with in a timely fashion and reports regularly to the Operations Manager on matters of company or client interest or significant events
  • Regularly monitor TEAM software to ensure that the company’s contractual obligations are met; that the schedule is up-to-date, and that TEAM information is an accurate reflection of number and type of hours worked during the pay period
  • Provide disciplinary action and coaching to all staff assigned within the portfolio as needed, as well as making sure incident reports are immediately completed and placed in an employee’s file Perform probationary and annual evaluations of staff assigned to portfolio
  • Ensure thorough Site Training and Employee Orientation programs are in place at all sites within the portfolio
  • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Paladin’s Occupational Health and Safety program at all sites
  • Investigate all WCB forms submitted, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and within deadlines, while implementing plan to prevent incident reoccurrence.
  • Analysis business margins on a monthly and quarterly basis to ensure the portfolio’s profitability and that a competitive edge with turnover and wages is maintained
  • Monitor daily, nightly reports and Incident Reports to project and account for oversight and take any appropriate action needed
  • Attends community networking events on a regular basis to foster new relationships and grow Paladin's brand, will be expected to network extensively within the local security and property management community
  • Willing to travel to job sites as and when required
  • Interior to maintain a strong working relationship with both clients and employees

Requirements:

  • A graduate degree in Business or related discipline and specialized training in protection services or criminology; or equivalent education and security experience.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory/managerial experience in security, policing, and/or fire safety services.
  • Working knowledge of appropriate legislation and provincial/national standards on fire safety, building codes, security, labour code, human rights, and protection of privacy
  • Must have strong leadership, negotiation, time management, social interaction and organizational skills
  • Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills to write and present proposals to large organizations
  • Creative ability to foster new and mutually respectful relationships with current and potential clients
  • Must be able to work effectively with clients and adapt to their evolving requirements
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Must be outgoing, sociable, adaptable, and detail oriented
  • Able to respond to crisis situations quickly and effectively
