Logistics Warehouse Security Officer
Location: Crest Hill, IL
Schedule: Part-Time | Weekends
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
We are looking for a professional, observant, and detail-oriented Logistics Warehouse Security Officer to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining the safety, security, and operational efficiency of a busy warehouse and distribution environment. Ideal candidates will have prior security experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle a fast-paced setting with professionalism.
Position Overview
As a Logistics Warehouse Security Officer, you will protect the facility, staff, products, and transportation operations. You will control access to the site, verify all incoming/outgoing traffic, and monitor warehouse activity to ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations. This position requires strong situational awareness, solid documentation skills, and the ability to follow established security protocols with accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Access Control & Verification
- Monitor and control entry/exit points for employees, visitors, vendors, and truck drivers
- Load documents, IDs, and vehicle information
- Ensure all drivers follow sign-in/sign-out procedures and warehouse rules
Patrol & Monitoring
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols of warehouse floors, storage areas, yard space, and docks
- Observe for unauthorized individuals, suspicious activity, safety hazards, and potential theft risks
- Monitor security cameras, alarms, and other surveillance systems as required
Safety & Incident Response
- Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, alarms, and safety concerns
- Report and document accidents, unsafe conditions, or violations of company policies
- Coordinate with warehouse supervisors, management, or emergency responders when necessary
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate daily activity logs, truck logs, visitor logs, and incident reports
- Document all unusual activity, rule violations, or safety concerns in a clear, detailed manner
- Communicate effectively with incoming officers during shift hand-offs to ensure continuity
Customer Service & Communication
- Provide professional assistance to employees, drivers, contractors, and management
- Enforce rules respectfully while maintaining positive rapport with warehouse staff
- Maintain consistent communication with supervisors and follow all post orders
Required Qualifications
- Illinois 20-Hour Unarmed Security Training Certificate
- Active Illinois PERC License
- Previous security experience, ideally in warehouse, logistics, distribution, or industrial settings
- Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, including indoors/outdoors
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in a busy, high-traffic environment
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to assigned shifts and responsibilities
- Ability to accurately document activities and follow established procedures
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Experience working in gatehouse/gate control positions
- Knowledge of warehouse systems, trailer logs, or freight documentation
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification
- Experience with loss prevention or asset protection
