Job Skills / Requirements

Reports To: Assistant Program Director

Classification: Non-Exempt

Rate of Pay: $20.70/hour 

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 10am-6:00pm, Fridays 9:00am-4:00pm

40 hours per week to meet the needs of the YOC hours, occasional after- hours events, on call rotation

Job Summary

The Street Outreach Worker shall offer runaway and homeless youth ongoing support, case management, aid, education, and guidance. They will link runaway and homeless youth and their families with community resources equipped to address their needs.  

Responsibilities

• Be visible within the community and provide street outreach to youth including such services as crisis intervention, information and referrals, housing and employment assistance, and education.  
• Be knowledgeable of street culture including where youth hang out, how to approach them, street language, etc.  
• Participate in community engagement activities and outreach events.  
• Maintain accurate records, data, documentation, and complete all intake requirements for prevention assistance. Participate in the evaluation of street outreach services goals and objectives. 
• In collaboration with the staff team, plan and coordinate the delivery of direct services to youth and families working toward reuniting runaway youth with their families when appropriate. 
• Access, develop, and maintain community resources to address immediate needs of the runaway or homeless youth.  
• Participate in an on-call rotation.  
• Loading/unloading in-kind donations 
• Lifting furniture and deep cleaning apartments to meet the needs of the client and program. 
• Ability to ascend/descend stairs to navigate apartment sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors. 
• Adhere to all policies and procedures of CEDARS. 
• Maintain confidentiality of clients served by this organization and professional boundaries in the provision of services. Treat all clients with dignity and respect.  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred, although relevant experience will be taken into consideration
• At least one year of experience working with youth and families. 
• A genuine interest in and concern for all youth and families.
• Sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the clients and families CEDARS serves.
• Ability to work with other professionals in the organization and in the community
• Ability to represent CEDARS in a positive and professional manner.
• General knowledge of computers and software.
• Have a valid Nebraska driver’s license, a good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.
